From Depression to Self-Love: My Journey to Resilience
Life can take some unexpected turns, and for me, one of the most challenging points came when my mental health was deteriorating year after year, leaving me in a state of severe depression. I was consumed by the anxiety of what others thought and whether I met their standards, which ultimately led me to seek ways to regain control over my life.
Breaking Free from Negative Thoughts
For six long years, my negative thoughts and fears dominated my mind. I felt unsupported by my family, lacked true friendships, and constantly struggled with feelings of self-worth. People around me often ignored or disapproved of me, adding to my sense of isolation and despair. Despite these challenges, one fateful morning, I made a decision to change my life by running for an hour in Five Gardens. This simple act of exercise marked a turning point in my journey towards healing.
After that first run, I began to feel the physical and emotional relief that I had been craving. The clarity of my mind allowed me to start thinking more positively and taking control of my life. It took more than a year, but through daily effort and self-compassion, I eventually fell in love with myself, no longer needing validation from others or external factors.
Transforming My Life as a Teacher
Feeling a sense of purpose, I decided to embark on a different path by becoming a teacher. My journey began with the NEET examination, a pivotal step in my academic career. Despite not achieving my expected results, I did not give up; instead, I was determined to find another way to contribute to society.
One day, while reading a newspaper, I stumbled upon an advertisement for a private school that urgently needed an English teacher. A template for the application caught my eye, and even though I was unsure, I decided to apply. To my surprise, I was offered the position. Joining the school marked a significant turning point in my life. The love and respect I received from my students and colleagues were unexpected and deeply gratifying.
Nine months into my teaching career, I realize that I have grown in ways I never imagined. Teaching has not only provided me with a sense of purpose but also helped me discover a reservoir of patience and resilience within myself. The fulfillment I derive from witnessing my students' success is rewarding beyond measure. Moreover, I have received multiple gifts on Teachers' Day from my students, each one a token of their appreciation and affection, making it a truly memorable experience.
Lessons Learned
Ultimately, my journey taught me that change and growth are possible when we take responsibility for our lives. It’s important to recognize that external validation is not a necessity and that we can find happiness and fulfillment within ourselves. Whether through exercise, self-care, or fulfilling careers, it’s essential to keep pushing ourselves beyond our limits. The hardest battles can often lead to the most significant transformations.
Conclusion: By taking control of my life and embracing new opportunities, I was able to overcome depression and find self-love. My journey serves as a reminder that life is full of unexpected challenges, but it is also filled with possibilities for growth and joy.
